The Paintings

Title: Genesis
Media: Acrylic on canvas
Date: Fall of 2002
Dimensions: 24"x 48"
Price: Sold
One of the first non-objective paintings I ever did and I still feel it is one of my strongest. The title refers to the passage in Genesis where God seperates the light from the darkness. I'm a bit fascinated by dichotomy...light and dark, positive and negative, good and evil...male and female. These are the sort of things I was thinking of when I did this painting.

The Drawings

Title: All Along the Highwire
Media: Pen and Ink on Paper
Dimensions: 18"x 24"
Price: $500.00

I completed this piece just a few months after my graduation from college but the idea had been bouncing around in my head for several years. The notion that life is a balancing act between two dangerous extreems is one that had occoured to me at a very young age and expressing that visually became something of an obsession. I had done a number of drawings of figures inching along on tightropes but none of them really said what I wanted to say. In the end it was a question of scope, by combining all the drawings together to create an infinate space, I managed to hit upon the image I was looking for. Photoshop Collage

Title: Moonglow
Media: Photoshop Collage

Very little Photoshop used on this collage. The image was created by taking a photograph and taping it to the back of a bottle filled with olive oil. I then directed a beam of light from a flash light through the bottle and snapped the shot. Finally, I pulled the image into Photoshop to adjust brightness/contrast, do color settings, and clean up the inevitable dust and scratches that happen when shooting through so much glass and liquid. Threadstone Series

Title: Stone

Media: Pen and ink on paper

This series is sort of an amalgam of forms inspired by the sculpture of Henry Moore and Zen brush drawings. These are purely imaginative creations, unlike the observed images of the above series.

Sketchbook Drawings

Title: Roses

A small sketchbook drawing that came about when I was living in Ventura Ca. Just walking down the street one day and noticed these growing in front of an office building.
